Jessixa is a Seattle based artist, originally from Portland, Oregon. She studied art at the University of Washington for two years, and then attended Cornish College of The Arts in Seattle where she received her bachelors of fine arts in 2004 in painting and printmaking. Her professional career has been focused in comics, having work published in Seattle’s The Stranger, The Chicago Reader, as well as The Comics Journal Magazine. Recent work includes drawing a series of mini comics for a product line for the novelty company Accoutrements. Jessixa’s background in comics is a constant influence and often brings itself to play in her fine art work. In her recent series “Robots & Cupcakes” Jessixa uses delicate lines and faint watercolors with her cartoon imagery to reflect basic human emotions of sadness, thought and desire. Jessixa enjoys all things robots, pirate and hotdog.
