Caitlin Wheeler is a multimedia artist from rural Parkton, Maryland who is completing her BFA degree in Printmaking at the University of Delaware in the spring of 2007. She works primarily in serigraphy and intaglio print methods, and has recently engaged in process based installation art.
She uses the interaction of her figures with inanimate objects and patterns to discuss identity, social tendencies and emotional capacity. Transparency and opacity (in both optical and theoretical senses), the development of a visual language, and an intimacy with the subject matter are all vital elements of her artwork.
Outside and inside of the studio, she is deeply invested in her friends and family, all of whom inspire her work. She currently lives in Newark, Delaware with her three roommates Dana, Adam, Jenna, and Beatrix, the cat.
